Dear Sir

I was much mortified to miss the pleasure of seeing you yesterday. As you are so kind to give yourself trouble in our cause, I shall be much obliged to You to request the favour of all the Gentlemen who have been so good as take in Subscriptions for us to pay in what they have got by the middle of this Month at the Bank of Down Thornton and Free Bartholomew Lane Messrs. Rivington Robson &c offered to pay it me when I called but I thought it better to lodge it at a Banker’s, and Mr. Thornton has offered to be Treasurer because people complained there was no ostensible name in the Proposals.

All goes on well, but I still fear Marshall. If you have any thing to communicate favour me with a line at Teston, Maidstone I hope we have near £300.

With much regard
dear Sir Yr. oblig’d
H More
